Obsessions: HATS

Obsessions: HATS

Some girls are obsessed with shoes, or purses, or maybe men, not me I’m fucking obsessed with hats I don’t have 10 reasons to be obsessed with them but I do have 10 hats so here’s 10 stories about said hats.

1: My blue beanie: (first photo) This is honestly the hat that started my obsessive hat wearing at school. I found the hat while walking out of my first period class Jr Year it was just laying on the floor, I picked it up and stuffed it into my backpack, no one saw. I later went home and washed it making sure not to get cooties then I started wearing it every wear I went. This hat is kind of a staple to my Jr Year and my Mark on my Sr year, I wore it nearly every single day and have pretty much natural hat hair now from it. Not to mention I got away with wearing the little bastard every day!

2: Graduation Cap: I’ve only wore this once and it was an utter bitch to wear, I had to use at least 10 bobby pins to hold it onto my head. But I love this hat just for the fact that I wore it to my High School Graduation, for a long time I didn’t think I’d graduate just because of my TAKs scores, I could not for the life of me pass my Math TAKs, it was just so stressful that I literally found myself having multiple breakdowns a month just at the fact there was a chance of me not graduating. I could give two shits about my diploma I got this cap and that’s what matters to me!

3: Vans Trucker hat: I got this hat at my first warped tour with my best friend, we both got matching hats which normally I find this as a no-no, but she’s my bestie so I let it slide. What’s fun about this hat is you can only get it at Warped Tour, and it has a sweat band on the inside of it so when I do yard work I soak the whole hat in water then freeze it so when I’m done sweating my ass off I put on the hat and freeze my head off. Pretty much anywhere I go while wearing this hat some one tells me it’s awesome, and I agree it is an awesome hat. Photo by Veronica

4: Snow Beanie: This isn’t my hat, it’s actually Chelsea’s but we trade hats a lot and this is my favorite one of her’s to wear. So I’ll tell the story of how she got the hat, Chelsea’s mom bought this hat for at Marshals the first time Chelsea and I ever hung out together. We stopped at her house (Chelsea’s house) for some reason and she just went in by herself to talk to her mom and then came running out wearing this ridiculous hat jumping about like a mad person. I knew then we’d be best friends for life.

5: Rainbow Beanie: I got this hat while shopping for a big warm hat for a ski trip, instead I bought this for 3 bucks in the kids section of Burkes Outlet, my mother was pissed. When I went to school wearing it everyone was like “ What the hell? Where’s your blue beanie!!” It was like a culture shock to everyone, and my head. Photo By Meg

6: REPTAR hat! : I’m not even that big of a Rugrats fan, but recently I was in San Antonio, hatless… I was going through withdrawals so I made my daddy by this hat for me. It was only 2 bucks at Hot Topic, when I wear this hat everyone loves it too, I like the bill =3 Photo by Meg

7: Gangsta Hat Numba 1: I got this hat when I was 16 while hanging out with my friend Dena, I was on the search for the perfect thug hat. I found this little beauty in a gas station run my Asians. While checking out the girl at the register kept hitting on me, it was kind of awkward just because she was really quite, lulz. I tried on the hat and looked at her and said, “ Whatcha think, pretty thug right?” and of course she replied,” Ooo very pretty.”

8: Rainbow Gangsta Hat Numba 2: I really have nothing to say about this hat it speaks for it’s self lol

9: Volcom Beanie: I got this hat while dating Walter, he liked the Volcom brand and got us both these beanies because they were on sale. I don’t really like this beanie, I kinda think it looks fucking stupid, but I don’t want to be rude.

10: Green Beanie: This is my new and favorite beanie at the moment. I got it at Hot Topic the past couple of weeks, there’s nothing really special about it but my dad keeps calling me a watchman now….which I don’t understand.

Staying positive: Sweet as Honey

So I didn’t get to go to Tegan and Sara, but instead Chelsea and I spent the day trying to go to animal shelters, but all of them were closed because of September 11th, so here’s a story real quick. We spend the morning driving to animal shelters and pet stores because I’m looking for a new dog, preferably a bigger dog, for when I move out and I’m on my own. So, after driving around for a bit we become frustrated and decide to go to an exotic pet shop, we start to drive towards the street it’s on when we pass by Pets Mart and I remembered that this weekend at Pets Mart they were having rescue dogs there for adoption. That’s when we decided to check it out and see if it was this weekend or not, because we weren’t too sure of the date of the rescue dogs. We park and Chelsea turns to me and starts telling me about how she understands my obsession/love of the Pit Bull breed ( Just a little pause in the story, Pit Bulls are my favorite breed of dogs and I will probably explain that in another blog, but Chelsea has been attacked by two Pit Bulls before so naturally she’s scared of them it’s not just because it was a Pit, the dog could have been Lab, or a Beagle she’s just scared of the fact that it attacked her. So, the Pit Bull thing has always been a touchy subject with us. But in the long run dogs come second to my friends.) anywho back to Chelsea’s speech, she starts telling me that she knows how bad I want a Pittie and how she knows it upsets me not to be able to have one, and that she is thinking about maybe the possibility of us getting one, but only if it’s a puppy and if it shows any aggression, the dog is gone. And, I responded with that I don’t want to force her to get something she’s scared of, and that no matter what dog I get if it’s aggressive it’s gone. So after talking about the Pit Bull thing we walk inside to see three dogs and three volunteers holding onto the leashes of the dogs. We first go to an older black lab by the name of Sadie, the volunteer tells us how Sadie is really sweet and drools a lot, I’m not too interested in her. I walk to the next dog I see Chihuahua in this dog, and the volunteer tells me that this dog’s name is Pax and he is an Italian Greyhound mix with a Chihuahua, he’s super sweet and climbs into my lap to give me kisses, but he’s a boy and I already have a boy dog and sometimes boy dogs just don’t mix well. Then there’s the last dog whose out, I see that she’s a pit mix with a husky, a pitsky, I bend down to pet her neck and the volunteer tells Chelsea and I that her name is Honey. I sit Indian style and Honey leans against me and begins to lay her neck in the crook of my neck and kisses my ear, you can see the love in her eyes. Chelsea then joins me on the ground and Honey goes to share the love with her as well giving her all kinds of kisses. The volunteer looks and sounds surprised when she tells me that Honey must really like me, she tells me that she’s a friendly dog but with me and Chelsea she just warmed up really fast and that she hasn’t been like that with other people.

Chelsea asked the lady for adoption papers, and filled them out for me because my handwriting is close compared to chicken scratch. This next week hopefully the adoption papers will go through, please keep Honey and I in your hopes and prayers.

So staying positive today is, I found the perfect dog for me and hopefully she’ll soon be home with me.

And to close us off here’s a photo of me with my hair spiked in 3-D.

Staying Positive: Tegan and Sara

Family Tree: Jeffery Michele

Family Tree: Jeffery Michele ( Brother)

Ten things on Jeff:

1) Favorite band in the whole world KISS
2) Married High School sweet heart
3) Oldest child of my family
4) Loves Mustangs
5) Saw Nikki Six once at Disney world
6) Goes to Disney World every year for two weeks
7) Got the iPhone 4 the day it came out
8) Secretly loves No Doubt
9) Amazing Swimmer
10) Makes the best BBQ

When I mention I have a brother most people don’t believe me because I so rarely talk about him, and I have perfectly logical reason for that: he’s a douche. I hate to be a negative Nancy but I really don’t have too much love for my brother, at one point in time I did now. When I was growing my brother and his wife were my favorite people in the whole wide world! I worshiped the ground he walked, he was my hero, and Julie ( his wife) was the coolest person ever. They pretty much raised me, and even for a year I lived with them, but as I got older I just realized how they really were.

Jeff being the oldest of the siblings and the only boy has a lot going for him, actually not really, my Dad is closer to the girls, Jeff is actually the most selfish person I know when it comes to family and I think a lot of that has to do with his wife. The only time they come over to visit ( which they literally live less that an mile away from our house) is to drop off their annoying, spoiled little girl so we can baby sit her. But lets take a step back just so I can explain some thing about Jeff, with out Jeff I would not like music I give him full credit for that. When I was with him we always listened to music, anything from KISS to Def Leppard, to even Stone Temple Pilots, instead of being exposed to the music of my Generation like Brittney Spears or N’ Sync I listened to all the classics and knew everything about the bands. I knew which Van Halen songs were Roth and what ones were Sammy, and I knew all the lyrics and meanings to most KISS songs. My first concert was with him when I was in the 2nd grade to see KISS and Ted Nudgent, and it was awesome! I saw boobs, fireworks, and the hottest band in the world: KISS! I actually got made fun of a lot in my younger years for the music I listened too, but now it’s cool to wear “vintage bands” t-shirts, where is the justice in that?

So Jeff is like my guru to music, but something happened when I was growing up I like most pre-teens and young teens I went through that crippling teen angst and during that time my eyes opened to the world and especially to my brother and his wife. They went from being the people who could do no wrong to the people who did everything wrong. I saw how compulsive they were with everything, and how moody and up tight Julie was about every little thing, and most of all I saw this big streak of utter assholeness to them, one in which I was blind to at a young age.

Things that make my brother an ass/douche:

- His obsesses with everything Disney, they literally watch nothing but Disney, and wont even watch Dreamworks or anything else.
-As mentioned before my Dad will do anything for any one, but when my Dad needs the help from his ONLY son, Jeff is too busy doing this and that to help my 61 year old Dad. ( My Dad has even hurt his back on two occasions helping Jeff move beds)
-He matches his clothes with his wife and daughter.
- He is literally obsessed with KISS, in his eyes they can do no wrong, he is even going to 3 KISS concerts in one weekend, Jeff does not buy cheap tickets, ONLY THE BEST FOR THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD.
-He always expects me to watch his kid without asking and with out pay( on Valentines Day one year when I was still Walter he expected me to watch her even though I already had plans and when I told him that he got pissed at me)
- He likes Glen Beck

He is overall just not a considerate person, and a very smug person.

Now some stories from his childhood:

When my brother was a teenager he bought the record Look What the Cat Drug in by Poison, and showed my dad the record, on the record all the members of Poison had dressed themselves up as woman. And my dad said, “ WOah look at all those hot girls!”

Ever since KISS came out my brother has been obsessed with them and even spray painted on my Dad’s newly built wooden fence the band’s logo, to which my dad told him to sand it off or he was gonna beat him.

The first time he took his now wife out on a date he had a Aerosmith tape in his car, and she picked up and said, “ You like Aerosmith?” and obviously he replied, “ Yes they are one of my favorite bands.” The rest of the night they talked about music and got married a couple years later, it was love at first Aerosmith.

When Jeff turned five the first thing he said, “ NOW THAT I’M FIVE I CAN RUN FASTER!,” The proceeded to run around the yard…at the same speed of four.

And that’s it on Jeff there’s no quotes from him because he’s an idiot =P

PS: I don’t have any old photos of him because all the old photos are from my sisters, and Jeff and his Wife hate my sister Amy, so Amy doesn’t have any of his photos.

Family Tree: Mary Elizabeth

Family Tree: Mary Elizabeth (Mom)

Ten Things to about Dear Old Mom:

1) She has been watching Days of our Lives for easily 20+ years
2) She has not heart, actually she does she is just very cold
3) Like my Dad lived in New Orleans, Louisiana till the 70’s
4) Changes her religion about every 5 years
5) Records pointless Food, TLC, and HGTV shows on all the DVRs so no one can watch shit
6) Listens to Jewish music and even tried to stop celebrating Christmas one year
7) Convinced that Obama is the Anti-Christ or a follower of the Anti-Christ
8) Obsessed with my ex boyfriend
9) You can thump her and she bruises
10) Completely obsessed with face book games like Farmville

There’s not much to say about my Mom besides the fact that I’ve learned pretty much everything from her be sex to why blood is not blue ( don’t listen to science teachers they are fucking idiots). She is easily the coldest person I know, by that I mean a normal conversation for us is….

Me: So ya today I went and I told him he’s a douche bag, and he was just like, what the F ever, and then I walked away.

Mom: Last night a baby was born at the hospital with no anal canal, they had to make a new one.

Me: Ya that’s fucking gross :: stops eating::

She isn’t phased by anything, I guess that comes with the job of working in a NICU, you’d think with her being a nurse there’d be compassion and a will driven to heal children.. No fuck that, any time I cam home with a scraped knee my truck driver of a dad cleaned it up, to this day I don’t understand that concept. My mom was not made to have children, she hates kids plain a simple, she likes older kids when they can fend for themselves but 10 and younger fuck that, that’s why I pretty much raised myself, not to mention when living with my sister she was too doped up to do anything but that’s a different blog. Mother was built and made to work for a phone company like every one else in her family, and although she had bigger dreams of being a writer or a painter and joining the Peace Corps her father would not let her, girls in her day were not allowed to leave town until they were married. So she took a typing class and in by the end of the week she worked for the telephone company and switch board operator just like her mother, aunt and all the other woman in her family.

My mom met my dad through a friend of a friend through some courses of base ball fields, and some how knew his cousin, I don’t know I think they forget at times even how they met, but at 19 they were married and in love, and by 20 they had a kid, my brother, and then later there was Beth, and then Amy, and theeen Me, but that’s a whole different story in itself.

Now it’s time for funny or memorable stories that my mom has told me…..

None, okay well there’s one: When my mother was younger like an idiot was playing in the street, when this big green pick up truck came speeding towards her. She had no time to run paralyzed in fear so she did the logical thing, she jumped over the truck. Yes, my mother when she was 8 years old jumped clear over a truck. How? According to her an Angel carried her over the truck, and to this day she remembers color of the man’s eyes; clear blue, and the license plate numbers to the truck, I’d ask but she’s at work.

And here’s another story that happened within in the last year: Couple months ago my mom and I were visiting the dentist for a yearly check up, I had not eaten all day because I binge eat a lot of times and (not purposely don’t think I have a disorder I just hardly ever get hungry), so all day I had not eaten and on our way to the dentist I asked if we could out to eat after we all done at the dentist. To which she replied yes but she’d have to get a chicken off the stove first. I thought this was strange because I did not remember her one, buying a chicken, and two, there being a chicken on the stove when we left. But I shrugged it off and figured I was not paying close enough attention. The dentist goes great, and we are out within a little over an hour, it’s now about 4:30 PM and I’m starving, I’m literally getting sick from not eating. We get to my house and my mom immediately starts running up the stairs, and I look in the kitchen and there’s no chicken….So I yell, “Hey the Kitchen’s down here!” And she starts to laugh and says, “ Oh, Emily you are so funny you know what chicken I’m talking about.” I then walk up the stairs to see my mother playing cafĂ© world on face book. For the next 45 minutes she played the game until the chicken was done, while I sat there cussing under my breath.

Quotes from my mom:

Mom: “ And that’s why I’m converting to become Jewish, so I can be closer to God, and be one of his chosen children.”
Me: “ Mother, have you looked at the history of Jewish people lately? God hates them. Plus we are all God’s children a dog taught me that!”

“ The whole book was about orgies, and rape, and homosexual relationships, I was disgusted, so I threw it away! So no one will ever be able to read it again.”

“ The end times are coming and when I’m in Heaven I will ride a white horse with Jesus.”

“ Jesus will make depression go away just pray.”

“ Head ache? Take a Vicodon.”

“ I’d tell that kid he really needs to go home and stop bothering me” (referring to an annoying neighborhood kid on Chelsea’s dad’s street)

Family Tree: Kelly James

Family Tree: Kelly James ( Dad)

After writing my obsession blog with my Family, Chelsea and some other people said I should write a Family Tree blog as well, and to start things off I’ll bring in the head of the house my daddy.

Ten things to know about my Dad:

1) His name comes from his mother’s maiden name, Edna Kelly
2) Up until the mid 70’s he lived in New Orleans , Louisiana
3) Obsessed with shows like CSI, NCIS, and other cop shows, I think he wants to be a Crime Detective
4) Has been smoking Cigarettes since he was 15
5) Loves Irish Setters
6) Truck Driver, but only drives Red Trucks, and calls them “ Old Red”
7) His CB name on the Road is “ Rock N Roll”
8) Once got in a knife fight at a bar
9) Would give you his shirt off his back ( after he washed it and ironed it first)
10) The biggest Neat Freak I’ve ever met

My dad and I have the prime example of a love-hate relationship, I love my dad, but about 80% of the time he is a dick hole, but that doesn’t make me love him less. The youngest of three children, from a working hard class of Irish-Catholics, my dad was not made to be a doctor, he’s a just a good ole boy. He started working at the age of 13 in a local Grocery store, as well as delivering bottles of Coca-Cola, and I’m sure he worked some other job in the mix as well. His dad was a “Happy - Drunk” alcoholic who died from being burned severely at a plant job, and his mother died later from cancer I believed, after both his parents died he lived with his older sister who fed him asparagus multiple times, to this day my dad will not eat asparagus.

The stories of my dad’s childhood are comical to say the least in a purely,” That’s so wrong” kind of way. For example; One day when I was younger my dad shows me a scar on his head and I asked what that was from and he goes, “ I got jumped by some black guys,” mind you my dad is currently 61 years old so do the math on when he grew up. So of course my response was,” Why?!” And my dad laughs,” Because I was white, so they hit me in the head with a 2 by 4 with some nails in it.” Now, I shouldn’t laugh at that, but it does make me laugh just to picture the whole thing makes me giggle and the way he portrays it is even funnier. Oh and then there is the story of his ankle: Kelly James being the playful scamp he is played just about every sport a young boy could play, one in which included football, now he wasn’t on the school team or anything this was just rough and tumble school yard play. One day while playing in the fields with some friends he was tackled onto a metal pole sticking out of the ground, his ankle landed on top of the pole and the other boys landed on top of my dad’s ankle. So, he crawled to the nearest bus stop, paid the fair, and then crawled home to his mother hoping to then go to the doctor. Upon arriving home he told his mother what had happened to which she responded by hitting him on the head and told him ,” To stop faking it and get up and do his chores.” Although once his mother saw that his ankle was swollen to not just the size but the color of a grape fruit her mind changed.

He’s honestly a great guy and would do anything for anybody, which people take advantage of sometimes. And although he smokes way too much , works in pretty much the most unhealthiest professions out there, I see him leaving to be 110.

Quotes from my dad:

“ And that’s when I told the dumbass if he didn’t give me my paycheck I was going to ram my 12’ inch screw driver into his heart god damnit.”

“ They must be inbreed or something up there, because they are stupidest sons of bitches I’ve ever met!”

“ I don’t understand those people who are that show, they are like OH HE’S THE DADDY I KNOW HE IS FOR SURE, when they’ve been on there 200 times already. Then the guys are like, oh yeah if it’s my I’m gonna be the best dad ever, and then they get the letter saying he’s not the dad and the guy starts dancing like, OH YEAH ALRIGHT! And the lady is just going, I though for sure he was the daddy….idiots.” Talking about Muary.

“ Jackass.”

“ Oh he’s a jackass.”

“ What abunch of jackasses.”

“ He’s the biggest jackass of them all.”

“ If I was such a jackass, I think I’d know it.”

(all above referring to politicians )

“ See, I’m not a smart man, but I don’t act like I’m a dumb man either, if people are talking about something and I don’t know what it is, I just nod. Because, if I don’t say anything they can’t think I’m stupid, they think I’m smart.”
